Virtual CIO Services Brisbane
Strategic IT leadership for growing Brisbane businesses - delivered through managed IT.
As a business grows, technology decisions become too important to handle reactively. A virtual CIO gives leadership a clear roadmap, budget, risk view and decision-making framework without separating strategy from the team responsible for delivery.
Built for the way your business works
What a virtual CIO actually does
A vCIO turns business priorities into a practical technology plan. That means deciding what needs attention now, what can wait, what it will cost and how each investment supports growth, risk reduction or operational improvement.
At Connected Platforms, vCIO capability is part of the managed IT relationship. The adviser knows your environment because the same team supports, secures and improves it every day - not because they arrive once a quarter with a generic report.

We work with specific types of businesses. Being honest about this saves everyone's time.
- ✓You have 20+ staff and tech decisions are made reactively when problems arise
- ✓You want an IT roadmap and annual budget without hiring a full-time IT executive
- ✓You're on managed IT and want strategy included -- not bolted on as a separate engagement
- ✓Leadership needs plain-language reporting on risk, spend and upcoming decisions
- ✓You're planning growth, a system migration or a significant infrastructure investment
- ✕You want a standalone CIO without any operational IT responsibility behind it
- ✕You're a pre-revenue startup looking for one-off strategic advice
- ✕You have an internal IT team and just need occasional external input
- ✕Your business is stable with no significant IT decisions in the next 12 months

What does vCIO cost?
vCIO capability is included in our managed IT service -- there's no separate fee. Monthly cost is per seat, based on the size of your environment. See our pricing page for the full structure.
How is this different from just having a responsive IT manager?
An IT manager handles day-to-day operations. A vCIO works at the strategic layer -- roadmaps, budgets, risk posture and aligning technology decisions with business goals. At CP, both happen through the same team, so the strategy is grounded in what's actually running in your environment.
How often do we get strategic input?
Typically monthly or quarterly depending on what's on your roadmap. You'll get regular reporting on service performance, risk and upcoming decisions, plus access to strategic input whenever a significant technology decision comes up -- not just at scheduled review points.
Can we do vCIO without full managed IT?
No. vCIO at CP is part of the managed IT relationship, not a separate service. The reason this works is that the strategy is built on direct knowledge of your environment -- that only exists when we're the team managing it.
What business size does this suit?
Best fit is 20 to 100 staff. Below that, the strategic overhead is usually light and managed IT alone covers most decisions. Above 80, you may want a dedicated internal CIO alongside a managed IT partner.
Your business has grown past reactive IT. Let’s talk strategy.
We’ll review the current environment, explain the gaps plainly and tell you whether our managed IT model is the right fit.
