Most Brisbane businesses stay with the wrong IT provider for years because switching feels risky. It doesn't have to be. The fear of switching is almost always worse than switching itself.

The Real Risk

Staying is the bigger risk

Every month with a reactive, hard-to-reach IT provider is another month of unplanned downtime, unresolved issues, and IT that works against your business.

The IT problems keep coming back

Reactive providers fix the symptom, not the cause. The same issues reappear because nobody is proactively reviewing your environment.

You can't get a straight answer on cost

Hourly billing, unclear invoices, and unexpected charges make it impossible to budget. A fixed per-user model removes the guesswork.

You're doing IT triage yourself

If you're the one triaging IT problems, chasing updates, or translating between your team and your provider — that's the wrong arrangement.

There's no forward planning

Good IT is proactive. If your provider only contacts you when something breaks, you don't have a strategic partner — you have a repair service.

Handover Coverage

What we handle during the switch

We run a documented handover process that covers every layer of your IT environment.

Access & Documentation

We collect and verify all admin credentials, software licences, vendor contracts, and system documentation before your old provider's access is revoked.

Microsoft 365 & Cloud Tenancy

Your Microsoft 365 tenant stays under your control throughout. We review admin access, clean up legacy accounts, and confirm security settings before taking over day-to-day management.

Backup & Recovery Verification

Before the handover is complete, we verify that your backups are working and restorable. You'll know what's protected and what recovery looks like — in plain language.

Vendor & Supplier Contacts

Internet, phone, hardware, software — we map every vendor, update contact details, and introduce CP as your primary IT contact so nothing falls through during the switch.

User Communication & Onboarding

Your staff will know who to call, how to log a ticket, and what to expect. We run a short team introduction so everyone knows the helpdesk name and response process from Day 1.

First 30 Days Stabilisation

The first month is a stabilisation period. We review your full environment, close any open issues from the old provider, and set a baseline for proactive maintenance.

Who Is This Right For?

Who this page is for — and who it isn't

Good fit

  • 10–100 staff Brisbane business on a current managed IT contract
  • Your provider is reactive — you only hear from them when something breaks
  • You're not getting proactive advice, forward planning, or clear ownership
  • Response times are slow, invoices are unclear, or you're doing IT triage yourself
  • You want a local team with fixed pricing and a structured onboarding plan

Probably not the right fit

  • Fewer than 5 staff on break-fix or ad-hoc support
  • Looking for the lowest-cost option rather than a complete managed service
  • Need 24/7 overnight staffing or call centre volume
  • Based outside Brisbane or Southeast Queensland

Not sure which side of this you're on? Book a 20-minute call — we'll give you an honest answer even if the answer is "not yet" or "we're not the right fit."

The Switching Process

What actually happens, week by week

A typical switch takes four to six weeks. Here's what that looks like.

1

Weeks 1–2: Discovery & documentation

We meet with you and your outgoing provider (if cooperative), collect credentials, map your environment, and identify anything that needs immediate attention.

2

Week 3: Handover preparation

Admin access is transferred, backups are verified, your Microsoft 365 tenant is reviewed, and we deploy monitoring and remote management tools.

3

Week 4: Go-live

Your helpdesk goes live with CP. Staff are briefed. Your previous provider's access is revoked after a final sign-off checklist is completed.

4

Months 2–3: Stabilisation

We close out legacy issues, run a full environment review, and give you a plain-English report on what was found and what the ongoing plan looks like.

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions about switching IT providers

What if our current provider won't cooperate with the handover?

This happens occasionally. We can recover your environment from backups, reset admin credentials, and rebuild documentation from scratch if needed. It takes longer, but it's manageable.

Can we switch without any downtime?

For most businesses, yes. Planned switches during low-traffic windows and proper staging mean staff typically experience no disruption. We identify any risk points before the handover date.

Do we need to give our current provider notice?

Check your existing contract — most have 30 to 90 day notice periods. We'll help you time the handover so your new agreement starts when your old one ends, with no gap in coverage.

What happens to our data during the switch?

Nothing moves unless it needs to. Your Microsoft 365 tenant, data, and file servers stay where they are. We take over management — we don't migrate data as part of a standard switch.

How long does the full switch take?

Typically four to six weeks from signed agreement to your old provider's access being revoked. Complex environments can take eight weeks. We'll give you a realistic timeline in the first call.

What if we're still in contract with our current MSP?

We'll review your existing contract terms with you. In some cases it makes sense to start planning now and switch at the end of your notice period. We can run a discovery session while you're still with your current provider.
