When Something Goes Wrong, How Fast Can You Get Back?
Ransomware, server failure, accidental deletion -- every Brisbane business faces recovery moments. The difference between two hours and two weeks of downtime is whether you planned for it. Connected Platforms builds and manages disaster recovery for businesses with 10--100 staff.

Most Brisbane businesses won't know their recovery plan is broken until they need it.
Downtime costs more than IT bills. Phones stop ringing, teams lose access to files, cloud apps become unreachable -- and recovery without a tested plan takes days, not hours. Here's what we see most often.
Backups that can't restore
Most businesses have backups running. Far fewer have tested whether those backups actually restore in under four hours. An untested backup is just a feeling of safety.
No documented recovery plan
When something fails at 7am, someone has to make decisions fast. Without a documented runbook, that decision-making takes hours of meetings before a single file is recovered.
Cloud โ protected
Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and cloud apps don't include point-in-time recovery by default. Ransomware can encrypt synced files within minutes. "It's in the cloud" is not a recovery strategy.
Recovery time measured in days
Without a tested DR plan, the average SMB takes 3--5 days to recover from a serious incident. With one, it's typically under four hours. That gap is the difference between an inconvenience and a crisis.
Everything you need before, during, and after an incident.
Disaster recovery isn't a product -- it's a combination of documentation, tested backups, and a team that knows exactly what to do when something breaks.
Backup audit and remediation
We review your current backup configuration, identify gaps, and fix them -- local, cloud, and offsite where needed.
Recovery time objective (RTO) planning
We work with you to define what "acceptable downtime" actually means for your business, then build a plan around it.
Documented recovery runbook
A step-by-step playbook for the most likely failure scenarios -- written for the people who'll be in the room when something goes wrong.
Tested restore verification
We test your backups on a schedule -- not just check that they ran, but verify they restore correctly to a known state.
Microsoft 365 backup
Third-party backup of your M365 environment including mailboxes, SharePoint, and Teams -- because Microsoft doesn't provide point-in-time recovery.
Incident response support
When an incident happens, you get the same Brisbane-based team that set up your DR plan -- not a help desk you've never spoken to before.
Is this the right fit?
Good fit
- Brisbane businesses with 10--100 staff who want a tested, documented recovery plan
- Businesses on Microsoft 365 or cloud apps with no separate backup
- Owner-led teams where the owner would be making decisions during an incident
- Businesses in sectors with compliance requirements (financial services, health, legal)
- Companies that have had a near-miss and want to close the gap before the next one
Not a fit
- Businesses wanting a one-time report with no ongoing testing or verification
- Enterprise organisations with dedicated internal IT security teams
- Businesses outside South-East Queensland
From gap to covered in four steps.
Discovery call
20 minutes to understand your current setup, your biggest risks, and what recovery looks like for your business specifically.
Backup and gap audit
We review your existing backups, test restore times, and identify where you're exposed. You get a plain-language summary of what needs fixing.
Remediation and planning
We fix the gaps, configure compliant backups, and write your recovery runbook. This typically takes 2--4 weeks depending on complexity.
Ongoing testing and monitoring
Quarterly restore tests, annual plan reviews, and 24/7 backup monitoring so your recovery capability stays current as your business changes.
Most businesses discover their backup is broken during a recovery.
Don't wait for the incident to find out. A 20-minute call is enough to tell you where you stand.

We already have backups running. Why do we need this?
Running backups and having a tested recovery plan are different things. Most businesses find their backups are incomplete, too slow to restore from, or don't cover cloud apps like Microsoft 365. We've seen businesses with daily backups that would still take a week to recover because no one had ever tested the restore process. An audit takes a few hours and tells you exactly where you stand.
How long does recovery actually take with a plan in place?
For a business with 10--50 staff on a well-configured DR plan, most critical systems can be restored within 2--4 hours. Without a plan, the same recovery typically takes 3--5 days. The difference is documentation and tested backups -- not heroics.
Does Microsoft 365 back up our data automatically?
Microsoft provides infrastructure resilience but not point-in-time recovery for user data. If someone deletes files, gets hit by ransomware that syncs to OneDrive, or an account is compromised, Microsoft's retention policies may not be enough. We add a third-party backup layer that gives you true point-in-time recovery for mailboxes, SharePoint, and Teams.
What's the difference between DR and business continuity?
Disaster recovery focuses on restoring IT systems after a failure -- getting your data and apps back online. Business continuity is broader -- it covers how your business operates during the recovery period. We cover both, but the IT DR layer is where we start.
How much does disaster recovery cost?
For most Brisbane businesses with 10--50 staff, the initial audit and remediation runs between $2,000--$5,000 depending on complexity. Ongoing monitoring and testing is typically included in your managed IT agreement. The easiest way to get a number is a 20-minute discovery call.
Your team shouldn't be figuring out recovery in the middle of a crisis.
A tested disaster recovery plan is the difference between a bad day and a catastrophic one. If you're not sure where you stand, let's find out together.
